Lunar material from Apollo missions on display
Issue date: 11/12/09 Section: University Briefs
Lunar material from NASA will be on display at the Hobbs Observatory at Beaver Creek Reserve at 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 as part of a presentation entitled "Starts, Dust, and Rockets."
The material comes from the Apollo missions, and includes small rock and sediment samples. It is on loan from NASA, thanks to Beth Johnson, a visiting geology professor.
Elisha Polomski, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy, will give the presentation about the history of the moon and the importance of the material. Depending on the weather, participants may also view Jupiter and starclusters through telescopes.
