The UW-Eau Claire football team fell to rival UW-Stout 36-15 on Saturday.

Stout jumped out to 7-0 in the first quarter and increased its lead to 22 by the end of the first half. The Blugolds bounced back with less than two minutes to go into the half with a touchdown and a field goal of their own.

The touchdown was scored by senior Brett Schreiner on a pass from senior quarterback Kyle Paulson, but Eau Claire failed to convert on the extra point. The score capped off a 37-yard drive, and the teams went into the half with Stout leading 22-9.

Neither team scored to open the third quarter until Stout put together another scoring drive with 6:45 to go. After six minutes of driving down the field, the Blue Devils added to their lead with a two-yard touchdown run.

Just over three minutes later Stout was back at it, scoring another touchdown and bringing the score to 36-9.

With 1:09 left in the game Eau Claire drove the length of the field, and Paulson threw for his second touchdown of the game. The catch was a 28-yard play and received by sophomore David Goodman for his fifth touchdown of the season.

After the touchdown and another missed extra point, the score was 36-15 and remained the same for the rest of the game.

Paulson threw 266 yards to go with his two touchdown passes.

Eau Claire dropped to 3-4 on the year and will face UW-Oshkosh next Saturday.
