Issue date: 10/29/09 Section: Police Blotter
Oct. 21
At 6:21 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a call from an emergency phone on Water Street and First Avenue. The caller said there was a man on the ground with injuries from a bicycle accident.
When the officer arrived he saw a man kneeling on the ground who appeared to be injured, and a woman was helping him. The two said they had collided while riding their bicycles. The man said he had a severe pain on his left side, and he thought he might have a rib injury.
The injured man explained he was trying to avoid a puddle on the footbridge when he collided with the woman and "flew" into the air before landing on the cement. After the paramedics arrived, the officer helped the man into the ambulance. He was transported to the hospital for further assessment.
