Wisconsin State Senate passed a bill to ban texting while driving, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. After a debate about whether to limit the ban to people younger than 18 years old, the senators passed the bill 27-5 with the ban pertaining to everyone.

If passed, the bill would follow the crack down on cell phone use while driving, a national trend of legislation.

Journal Sentinel Online also reported that lawmakers in approval of the bill saw texting while driving more dangerous than talking on the phone, because people are taking their eyes off the road to look at their phone more often while texting.

The texting bill could be heard by an Assembly committee as early as next week.
