Platteville fumbled the ensuing kickoff, giving Eau Claire the ball back on Platteville's 28 yard-line and setting up a quick Blugold touchdown, this one off a two-yard run by Sartorelli. The Blugolds now held a 28-23 advantage - their first lead since the score was 6-3 early in the second quarter.
"That turned the ball game around for us, because we were able to take advantage of that mistake, go down and score," Sartorelli said.
Platteville fumbled the ball again on their next possession, giving the ball back to Eau Claire on the Blugolds' own eight yard-line. Eau Claire then mounted a 14-play, 92-yard touchdown drive to extend the lead to 34-23.
"That was a big one, too," Glaser said of the second fumble recovery. "I thought our defense did a great job of creating turnovers."
Platteville added a late-game field goal with about a minute left on the clock to make the final score 34-26.
Eau Claire will host UW-Stout at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Carson Park. Stout will come into the game with a 1-2 conference record and 4-2 overall record. Eau Claire beat Stout last season 17-6.
