UW-Eau Claire competed in the Wisconsin division with eight other Wisconsin schools and placed second in two categories of the 10 week RecycleMania competition.

They placed second in the Per Capita Classic, a category that counted the total pounds of recyclables collected per person. The second category was the Gorilla Prize, which is determined by the total amount of recyclables collected. UW-Eau Claire placed second in that category as well. The university collected 73.23 tons, according to the press release.

RecycleMania, which began as a competition between Ohio and Miami University, now includes 510 colleges and universities. It is run by the National Recycling Coalition, according to the press release.
