Dan Balz, a national political correspondent for The Washington Post, will be featured at the 2009 Ann Devroy Memorial Forum this month at UW-Eau Claire.
The presentation, titled "The Obama Administration: How They Got There. Where They're Going," will begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Balz has been a reporter or editor for 27 years and joined the Post in 1978. He has served as national editor, political editor, White House correspondent and as the paper's Texas-based Southwest correspondent.
The Ann Devroy Memorial Forum and the Devroy Memorial Fund were established to recognize the outstanding journalistic work of 1979 UW-Eau Claire graduate Ann Devroy, who died of cancer in 1997 at the age of 49.
The Devroy fund awards a scholarship and helps defray the cost of a three-week residency at The Washington Post for Devroy winners. Winners also have a 3-month paid internship at a Wisconsin daily newspaper. The Devroy winner is announced during the Forum presentation.
The forum event is free and open to the public.
