The students of Economics 330, "The economics of American minorities," will be presenting class projects on Wednesday, May 6 from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in Schneider Hall, room 225.
The projects focus on the economic status of ethnic minorities in the United States. The data used for research was from the Public Use Microdata Files of the U.S. Census, years 2000 to 2007. Statistical analysis was used to explore research questions on historical and current trends of economic and educational status of minorities.
Students divided into seven research groups of three to five people, with each group focusing on one ethnic group. Project focuses include the educational attainment of African-Americans, Chinese-Americans, Native-Americans, Indian-Americans and Hmongs, as well as the economic status of Latinos.
The projects were developed under the mentorship of assistant professor Sanjukta Chaudhuri. All are welcome to attend the presentation.
