At 2:05 a.m. an officer saw a vehicle traveling down Water Street with its driver's side headlight out. The officer pulled the vehicle over. The officer told the driver he had stopped him because of the headlight. The driver told the officer he hadn't known it was out and said he would get it fixed. The officer could smell alcohol inside the car. The driver told the officer he had about six beers. The driver performed a field sobriety test and passed. He took a preliminary breathalyzer test and registered a .05. The passenger also submitted to a PBT and registered a .16. She was underage. The officer issued the passenger a citation for underage drinking, first offense. The officer then allowed the vehicle to leave.

At 12:26 a.m., an officer received a call from a residential assistant about a noise complaint in Towers Hall. The RA said she had knocked on the door and spoke with the resident but the noise continued. The RA decided to call the police after the resident had yelled at her. The officer went up to the room and could hear loud voices. The officer heard the people in the room talking about how the resident had "told off" the RA. The officer knocked on the door and asked for the door to be opened. The officer told the resident why he was there and asked to enter the room. The officer noticed the resident smelled like alcohol and spoke very loudly. The resident eventually let the officer in, where there were five people. The resident told the officer she felt the RA was targeting their room.
The people in the room told the officer they had been at a party and gotten back before midnight. The officer asked if there was any alcohol in the room and was told there wasn't. The resident told the officer if he wanted to search the room he would have to come back with a search warrant. The officer asked again and eventually the resident gave the officer an empty bottle of Admiral Nelson's, two cans of beer and a half-full bottle of Vodka. It was determined the alcohol belonged to the resident. The officer issued the woman a citation for underage drinking, second offense. The woman did not take a PBT test and the officer cleared the room.
The officer received another call at 2:22 a.m. about the same noise complaint. The RA told the officer she had received more complaints after the officer had left and that the resident slammed the door in her face when the RA asked them to be quiet. The officer returned to the room but heard no noise. The officer had the RA fill out a police report regarding the situation.
