Students enrolled in the course "Teaching Foreign Languages in Grades 1-9" will offer free classes in beginning French for grades one through five, beginning German for grades three through five and beginning Spanish for grades one through five for school children in the area.

The classes will meet from 4:10 to 4:50 p.m. on Thursdays, April 2 to May 7. They will be in Hibbard Hall.

The classes will help UW-Eau Claire students prepare to teach foreign languages in earlier stages of schooling. University students will gain knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be good teachers. The classes are free, but parents are encouraged to contribute after-school treats.

To register, go to the foreign languages Web site or contact the Department of Foreign Languages at 715-836-4287. The registration deadline is March 19.

For questions, contact Paul Hoff, professor of foreign languages, at 715-836-4437 or hoffpj@uwec.edu.
