United Council on campus today
Last week, Student Senate passed objections to the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents revisions to Chapter 17 and 18, a UW System policy that governs over all System schools.
This issue could possibly affect everyone in the System. For information on Chapter 17 and 18 revisions and the policy, United Council will be on campus today in the Arrowhead Room of Davies Center from 1 to 3 p.m. educating more on the issue.
While most of the revisions were needed since the policy was out of date, there were some revisions that were made that are not student friendly and could potentially infringe on student rights.
Student Senate found its objections to the Chapter 17 and 18 revisions similar to those of other schools in the UW System. These schools then came up with specific objections to the revision and why and submitted it to their senates to show support against these certain parts in the Chapter 17 and 18 revisions.
Student Senate passed a resolution last week to show UW-Eau Claire's opposition to the specific student unfriendly portions to the revision.
Ceramic students donate to Empty Bowls
UW-Eau Claire ceramic students and the Department of Art and Design are confronting hunger in Eau Claire with the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Feed My People Food Bank.
Two hundred student-made ceramic bowls will go to the event.
Volunteers will serve soup, specialty breads and desserts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Boulevard.
The soups will be donated by The Creamery, Fox Run, Houligan's, the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club and Randy's Family Restaurant. The bread will be donated by Great Harvest Bread Co. and dessert will be provided by area businesses and volunteer groups.
Ticket prices are $18 for dinner and a hand-designed ceramic bowl or $8 for dinner alone.
The number of bowls is limited; advance purchase of bowl tickets is recommended. Advance tickets are available at the UW-Eau Claire Service Center and the Feed My People Food Bank Web site at www.fmpfoodbank.org. Tickets also will be available at the door. Guests may dine in or take their meals to go.
