We have had a change to profit motive almost completely and do not buy and sell to fulfill the real needs of the people. In the old days, salespeople would do surveys to find out what the people wanted to buy, and then those products were produced and sold for profit, which created jobs and income for everybody.

Large houses and cars are produced that are easily afforded by the rich but not by the average citizen. More gasoline is moved, and prices increase.

The FED is also involved because they have periodically raised the prime interested rate and by this caused inflation and recession at will to influence politics.

The prime interest rate is the fastest way to cause inflation when goods and services are already moving. In the Carter administration, gasoline price increased due to restricted supply. This caused the inflation called Stagflation. It was caused by control of oil and gas supply and interests rate increase.

At the end of Clinton's term the interest rate was raised in a few months over 6 percent because there was fear that inflation would increase. That move caused the recession at the start of Bush's term. I think that the markets and economy have been entirely manipulated by the interest rates and gasoline supply. Now the price of gasoline is $1.97 per gallon when oil prices have decreased by 76 percent to about $35 per barrel, but gas price is almost 50 percent of its maximum price.

We should get back to accommodation of the peoples' real needs. We have been manipulated by people who care about their own enrichment and not for the good of the country. Concentration of wealth and lassies faire economic development causes new means of taxation, which is price control. This is a hidden kind of tax that should be stopped.
