Dance company to perform at Kjer Theatre

On Feb. 10, UW-Eau Claire's The Artists Series will present the Hubbard Street 2 Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. in the Kjer Theatre, Haas Fine Arts Center.

The group is the second company of the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Dancers are ages 17 to 25 and exhibit many dance techniques, movement styles and artistic approaches influenced by ballet, hip-hop and improvisation. The company has performed at prestigious venues around the country as well as internationally.

The dance company reaches more than 35,000 people by performing at schools, theaters and community centers. Formed in 1997, the company is a reputable and respected training center for young dancers and choreographers.

Tickets for the performance are $17 for the public; $15 for senior citizens and Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley Technical College faculty and staff, and $7 for those 17 and younger and Eau Claire and CVTC students. Student tickets are half-price until the day of the event.

Hubbard Street 2 will also be presenting a master class for contemporary ballet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 in the McPhee Center. The event is free and open to the public.
