Nov. 4, 2008, is one of the most important days in our lifetime. On this day, we as students will have the chance to shape the future of our nation. That chance occurs in the polls where we vote for the next leader of this great nation. And while this decision is easy for me - voting for change or not voting for change - that is not the most important decision on that Tuesday.

No, the most important decision comes third on the ballot, state assembly. Representative Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire) is up for re-election after fighting for students and their futures over the last two years. He has advocated for health care, education and campaign finance reform. These reforms will help keep Wisconsin the great state that it is today!

The state legislature in Wisconsin has the most impact on students. However, failing to re-elect Jeff Smith will handicap students in the Chippewa Valley from getting the best education possible, and becoming the best citizens possible. You will remember to vote on Nov. 4 for president, but don't forget to vote Jeff Smith for Wisconsin State Assembly. He has fought for you for two years; return the favor and re-elect your best advocate in Madison!
