UW-Eau Claire's 2008 class will have seven athletes inducted into the Blugold Hall of Fame. The athletes have earned either All-American first or second- team honors.

Among the inductees include basketball players Mike Prasher, Mike Johnson and Erika (Schmidt) Merkel, football players Mitch Patri, John White, Tom Saskowski and Mike Molnar and volleyball player Marnie (Blau) Harrington.

The 2008 class of inductees represents the 32nd class of men's inductees and the 19th class of women's inductees. With the new class added the Blugold Hall of Fame holds 165 honorees.

The Blugold Hall of Fame was established in 1973 with the goal to recognize athletes and coaches who have shown admirable character and exceptional ability. In order for athletes to be inducted there must me a lapse of time from their final season of eligibility, 10 years for women and 15 years for men.

The class of 2008 will be recognized Oct. 18 at halftime of the football game, following a banquet held in the Tamarack Room of the Davies Center.

Tickets for the banquet, which will also include a presentation of the Blugold Super Six Salute award winners from 2007-08, are $20 and can be obtained by contacting the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association at (715) 836-3266.
