Angry local runs for Congress
Libertarian candidate issues incumbent Kind pink slip

Wearing a V for Vendetta mask, Libertarian Kevin Barrett delivered a pink slip to the representatives of Congressman Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) in La Crosse last Thursday. Barrett called the pink slip a symbolic notice of Kind's imminent removal from office on Nov. 4.
Barrett, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist from Lone Rock, Wis., and incumbent Kind are two of the three congressional candidates on November's ballot for Wisconsin's 3rd District, which represents southeastern Wisconsin, from Eau Claire to Hudson to Platteville.
"Remember, remember the fifth of November," Barrett said as he walked into Kind's La Crosse office, a video of which is now posted on YouTube. "We'll vote them out on Nov. 4 and celebrate Nov. 5."
The idea to issue Kind a pink slip came from Operation Pink Slip, an initiative based in Colorado to "kick out" all of Congress' incumbents. Barrett said no incumbent more deserves to be removed from office than Kind, whom he said is a "quintessential wimp Democrat" for supporting the $700 billion economic bailout plan.
Kind's decision to vote in favor of the bailout plan was a mistake, Barrett said, because it would cost each household $10,000 that would go "straight into the pockets" of Wall Street businessmen.
"This bailout is just a swindle," Barrett said. "It's going to pile all of this debt on the backs of taxpayers."
Anne Lupardus, Kind's press secretary, said Kind's decision to approve the bailout plan, though unpopular, was in the best interest of western Wisconsin families.
"The fear without this legislation was that there would be massive layoffs and we'd fall into a deep economic recession that we wouldn't be able to dig ourselves out of for many years," Lupardus said.
Barrett said that if he were elected to Congress, he would solve the current economic crisis by advocating the abolishment of the Federal Reserve and the creation of currency directly through the federal government.
Barrett said he thinks Kind also ought to be tried for war crimes because of his support of the Iraq war.

And there you have it, folks; Mr. Barrett shows us a clear example of why libertarians and libertarianism will never be taken seriously. Will a libertarian just come out one of these days and act like a normal human being, clearly stating his or her points (many of which are looking more valid with each passing day) in a non-crazy, non-annoying manner? Ron Paul came close, but then we found out he was a closet racist, so that was the end of that. (Continued…)

Kind is a great example of why the Democrats have lost credibility. He voted to steal $700 billion from the middle class. I'm voting Barrett!

Well said Ozy. I consider myself "libertarian" on my issues including limited government and foreign policies etc, but this is not the way to get things done. (Continued…)

Sounds like the only thing missing on Barrett is a tinfoil hat.

Barrett does not represent the Libertarian Party. The Political Director of
the National Libertarian Party declared that Barrett's endorsement of
holocaust deniers and his calls for violence have put him "beyond the pale. (Continued…)

I for one don't think that Barett is angry enough.
I want a candidate who I can imagine drowning a bag of cats.
That's why I'm voting for Joad Cressbeckler. (Continued…)

Oh, don't sell Barrett short. He sees your bag of cats and raises it heaps.
He said that everyone who draws a paycheck from the major news media should
be hanged. (Continued…)
