Community action is fair's main priority

UW-Eau Claire's Community Action and Service-Learning Fair is an event aimed at helping students find volunteer opportunities, internships and careers. The event will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

The event, sponsored by the Center for Service-Learning and the University Center's Community Action and Lifelong Learning program, aims to give students an opportunity to learn about service-learning, volunteer work and internships.

Through agencies represented at the event, students will be able to find ways to earn credit or fulfill their service-learning requisite.

Local, state and federal agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations will be emphasized and their internships and career opportunities will be highlighted.

These agencies and organizations will also be handing out information and their representatives will be able to talk to
students about volunteer work, internships and careers.

A few people will be speaking from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Menomonie Room of Davies Center. The topics of discussion will include Americorps, Vista and Jumpstart.

The Center for Service-Learning also has a listing of activities and oppourtunities that fulfill the university's service learning requirements.
