Monday, Sept. 1
At 12:01 a.m., an officer was on vehicle patrol in Governors Lot when he observed a man and woman standing near the tennis courts. As the officer drove by, the man moved a bottle from his right to left hand and hid it behind his leg.
The two then began walking at a fast pace between the courts to Towers Circle, where the officer stopped them. As he was talking to them, the officer could smell alcohol on their breath and noticed their eyes were glassy and bloodshot.
The man registered a .07 and the woman a .06 after submitting to a preliminary breath test, after the officer identified the woman by her Blugold ID and the man by his Wisconsin driver's license. Both admitted to having Admiral Nelson's rum in their Gatorage bottles. He issued each of them a citation for underage drinking, first offense.
Putnam Park bust
Saturday, Aug. 30
At 11:30 p.m., an officer on patrol in Putnam Park saw three men standing at the first wooden landing. The officer saw one of the men light something and begin to smoke it. The officer then heard the man cough several times. Another man then lit the object and began smoking it. He also began to cough soon afterwards. The officer noticed this type of activity was similar to the drug activities that occur in Putnam Park with smoking marijuana.
The officer then walked over to the three men, shined his flashlight on them and asked to see their hands. When the officer asked if they had been smoking, the men replied that they hadn't. The officer then searched all of them, but did not find anything on the men or in the area of importance. After the officer again told the three men he had seen them smoking, they told the officer that they were smoking a rolled cigarette with grape flavored tobacco in it. The officer asked where it was and the men said it was gone.
While talking to the men, the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The officer also noticed one of the man's speech was slurred. The men told the officer that they had mixed drinks earlier that night. Each submitted to a preliminary breath test and registered .07, .06 and .05, respectively.
All of the men were issued a citation for underage drinking, first offense.
