"Last time it was a full house and there wasn't a person in the house that wasn't dancing," Stone's Throw co-owner Andrew Pernsteiner said. "It's not often that you see a solo musician and the entire house dancing, but (Glabicki's) such a high energy act that it creates a very fun atmosphere."
Glabicki, the lead singer of the jam band Rusted Root, is returning on Friday night to the Stone's Throw as part of his solo acoustic tour.
Pernsteiner said the venue has been trying to book Rusted Root for a long time, but there were constraints because of the stage's size. He added he is excited to have Glabicki back during the school year to play some Rusted Root songs as well as solo originals.
"He's been doing a lot of solo work and putting a new spin on the familiar music of Rusted Root," Pernsteiner said. "Everyone (at the Stone's Throw) is a big fan of him so it's great we could have him back."
Senior Tiffany Cross, an employee at the venue, said she has seen both Rusted Root and Glabicki's solo act. She said it's really easy to get into his live show because the music is very up beat.
"I liked (Rusted Root) a lot when I saw them at Summerfest because I'm really into the jam band style of music," Cross said. "When he was in Eau Claire, it was really fun because he just got people really into it … Everyone was dancing and cheering, so I expect his return to be just as good this time around and maybe even better."
Although Rusted Root has been described as a jam band, Glabicki said he isn't sure how to describe his solo acoustic music.
"It's a wide variety of sounds but I don't really know how I would describe it," he said. "My solo stuff tends to be more political and introspective and at the same time Rusted Root tends to have a very ritual sound … I approach the songs differently in different areas."
Pernsteiner said he feels Glabicki's style has a hint of African tribal sound to it, and he does a lot of improvisation so each song isn't the same every time it's played.
