At any given time of the day, students can be seen visiting the University Service Center in Davies, whether in search of a lost item or a few stamps.
For senior Tom Burton, working at the University Service Center allows him to experience it from the other side of the desk. He said the most interesting part of his job is what he sees.
"It's amazing how much stuff people lose," Burton said.
The University Service Center has a closet full of items people should come and pick up, he said, adding students come daily to find missing Blugold IDs and cell phones.
Burton found out about the position on the Job Board and has worked there since January 2005. This semester, he works two days a week and every other weekend, he said.
"We do ticketing for all university events, some bank services and the U.S. Postal Service," Burton said. "And, we're the campus switchboard."
The best part about his job is working with peers, he said.
Burton said he recommends working at the University Service Center because of the skills it offers.
"You get good experience and opportunity for advancement," he said. "And the bosses are nice."
