Chancellor gets raise

At its April meeting Friday at UW-Oshkosh, the UW System Board of Regents approved a salary increase for three senior academic leaders, including UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich.
An increase of $6,500 brings Levin-Stankevich's total annual salary to $186,500, which System officials said better coincides with market and equity factors.
Before the increase, Levin-Stankevich's salary was $4,000 lower than that of the System's most recently hired chancellor, according to System records.
In addition, Eau Claire has the second largest budget of the 11 comprehensive institutions, with a total $159 million for 2006-2007 - something that officials said also needs to be taken into consideration.
System President Kevin Reilly said Levin-Stankevich is respected by area business and community leaders for engaging in strategic planning efforts and for advancing Eau Claire's contributions toward economic development.
The Board also approved the three-year extension of the Return to Wisconsin Tuition Plan, a program that gives a 25 percent discount on nonresidential tuition to children and grandchildren of Eau Claire alumni if they decide to attend Eau Claire.
