Gragert is working with non-profit organizations to make sure that everyone has the right to transportation, whether they are poor, old or young.

"It is a really big issue," he said, "something I haven't completely figured out how to solve."

He said one thing people can do to help fix the problem is get kids used to walking, biking and public transportation at an early age, so they can continue the habits when they are older.

Gragert said he worked with many Eau Claire students, helping set them up with service-learning opportunities. One example of this is the Community Garden Project. He said some biology majors are working on this project, which sets up various garden classes for kids, where they can grow and eat their own vegetables.

Gragert passed his one-year mark of being an Americorps VISTA member in February and is now on an extension, thinking about doing another year, he said. Gragert said he wants to pursue a career where he can work with a university service learning program or for a non-profit organization, or do something with urban planning. He said he is not sure exactly what he wants to do, but said he knows he wants to help people.
