Provost candidates begin campus visits

The search for UW-Eau Claire's next No. 2 executive officer continues Monday with the first of four visits from finalists for the position.
Over the next two weeks, candidates for Eau Claire's provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs will meet with members of the university community during their two-day visits to campus. They will also conduct forum presentations from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. on Day One of their visits in Phillips 007.
Steve Tallant, interim provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, will visit campus Monday and Tuesday.
Tallant filled the position from May to November 2004 and has currently been filling the role since April 2005. He is also a professor of social work.
Michael Miller, dean of the College of Education at Minnesota State University, will visit campus Wednesday and Thursday.
Miller previously served as professor and chairman of the Education Department, as well as an associate dean at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.).
Kathleen Rountree, associate provost for Undergraduate Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will be available on campus March 12 and 13.
Rountree has previously served as dean of the College of Performing & Visual Arts and professor of music at the University of Northern Colorado.
Laura Niesen de Abruna, vice president for Academic Affairs and dean and professor of English at Heidelberg College (Ohio), will be on campus March 14 and 15.
Niesen de Abruna previously served as dean of Arts, Humanities & Communications and professor of English at Susquehanna University (Penn.)
