Just lost track of time, officer

Issue date: 3/29/06 Section: Police Blotter
At 10:40 a.m., an officer met with a university administrator who reported a possible homeless person who had spent the previous few days watching television in the Davies Center TV lounge.
The administrator said he was concerned because the man had a strong body odor and said other people might not use the lounge because of the man's presence. He also said the man had been looking through various garbage cans and picking up cigarette butts from the ashtrays outside Davies Center.
The officer identified the man from his expired Wisconsin driver's license, but when the officer began asking the man questions, he would respond by talking about auto insurance.
The man said he only meant to watch 5 minutes of television and that he wasn't homeless but from rural Menomonie. The officer explained that Davies Center was for the use of members of the university community.
After leaving the building, the officer saw the man heading up the wooden stairs leading to McPhee Center.
