This year's football game brings archrival UW-Stout, but senior linebacker Andrew Jones said despite the Homecoming activities leading up to kickoff, it is still just one more game on the schedule.
"It's going to be a difficult WIAC game," he said. "They've got some really good athletes, (and) it should be a really hard-fought game."
The annual pre-game party, "Blugold Fever Fest," will be held at 11 a.m. before the football game at Carson Park. It includes music by the Eau Claire marching band, as well as food and beverage tents.
Blugold fans can expect good weather for the parade and game. The National Weather Service forecast for Saturday calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 61.
Carrying the week's "safe and sane Homecoming" theme, Eau Claire Police Chief Jerry Matysik warned at a press conference last week that law enforcement will issue few warnings this weekend.
"We try to be reasonable, but there's no reason to expect a warning if somebody's having an out-of- control, loud and obnoxious party," Matysik said, adding, "We're not out with the goal to write as many tickets as we can."
