However, with the rush of moving into the residence halls and classes starting, several students said they haven't had the opportunity to look at the packets or use any of the discounts yet.
Freshman Courtney Hamilton said she isn't sure if she will use the coupons or not, but the concept is "a nice idea."
"Some people will utilize it and some (students), like myself, haven't opened it yet," Hamilton said.
Freshman Scott Picha said he plans to use any coupons for groceries that are in the packet.
"You have class and homework and you forget about all the little stuff you have (to do)," he said of why he hasn't looked at the packet yet.
Chamber members couldn't be reached for comment.
Students said, overall, they appreciated the packets.
"It's definitely a cool (idea)," Picha said. "A lot of people will take advantage of those (coupons)."
Stran said he found it helpful in that freshman year he didn't really know the area and this gave him an opportunity to see what was around in Eau Claire.
"I don't like to spend a lot of money," Wallis said, "but with coupons, I'm more willing to do it."
