3. Yes! April 30
At about 11:30 p.m., while driving on Park Avenue, an officer noticed several people standing in some bushes on the north side of the Hibbard parking lot.
When the officer went to check on the people he noticed a small tent set up in the lot near where the group was standing.
A man approached the officer and went on to explain that his son met his girlfriend on campus and planned to propose marriage in the tent in a few minutes.
A short time later, a man and woman slowly walked into the tent.
About 10 minutes later the man left the tent and shouted, "She said yes!"
The group of people came out of the bushes and held a brief party before taking down the tent.
2. Mouthy, Jan. 30
An officer responded to a report of a man in the lobby of Putnam Hall who was injured in a fight.
The officer met with the man who was bleeding from his mouth, had swollen lips and crooked upper teeth.
The man said he was punched by a woman walking in front of Putnam Hall. He said he didn't know the woman, but met her at a party that night.
The officer and the man resumed their conversation at an area hospital, where the man went for treatment.
First, the man said he did not remember what was said before he was hit. He said the woman made him believe she was interested in him. They left the party together and walked back to the dorms.
As they approached the dorms, the man said he tried to convince the woman to come up to his room. She refused and then hit him.
The man needed to have a temporary brace made for his front teeth. He also had to make an appointment for further dental work, including a root canal.
1. Roommate rumble, April 9
An officer was contacted by a Sutherland Hall resident who wanted to report that his roommate destroyed his coffee table.
The man told the officer his roommate had been drinking alcohol all day. The man said he left about three and a half hours earlier, and when he came back his coffee table was missing and wood splinters were on the floor.
Other residents on the floor told the man his roommate broke the table and then threw it down the garbage chute.
The officer was able to locate the man's roommate, who admitted to breaking the table.
The man's roommate said he fell on it, and told the officer he was upset by the man's questions concerning the table because he was still mad at him from an incident that happened two days before.
The incident, the man's roommate said, involved the man giving him a shot of what he said was alcohol. It turned out to be a glass of urine, he said.
While talking to the man's roommate the officer could smell alcohol on his breath. A Preliminary Breath Test was given and registered at .12. The officer issued the man's roommate a citation for underage drinking first offense and advised him that he should speak with his hall director about any other issues between him and his roommate.
