Sen Russ Feingold (D-WI), spoke to a crowd of community members and students Thursday, Sept. 2 in the Tamarach Room in Davies Center.

U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wi.) challenged his opponents to campaign on issues, not personal attacks, at a campaign stop Sept. 2 in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center.

"People know where I stand on these issues," Feingold said, "but they also deserve to know where the other candidates stand - before the election."

Feingold said he would support legislation that would provide guaranteed healthcare for every American. He emphasized the need to lower prescription drug prices.

He said he would oppose trade agreements, such as the proposed Central American Free Trade Agreement, that take jobs away from Wisconsin.

Feingold also spoke of the S.A.F.E. Act, a bill he co-sponsored with three conservative Republican senators to change certain sections of the U.S.A. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act that have been challenged as a breach of civil liberties.
