New legislation would encourage competition, eliminate monopolies

If the proposed Cable Choice Bill passes the state Legislature, Eau Claire residents and other Wisconsinites could enjoy lower cable television bills. The goal of the Cable Choice Bill is to dissolve the monopoly on cable television, said state Rep. Terry Moulton, R-Town of Seymour.

American Marketing Association raises $4000 at annual race Saturday

No one needs a legitimate reason to go outside and enjoy beautiful weather, but for the participants of the American Marketing Association Fun Run, which was held Saturday at Carson Park, there were plenty more reasons to be outside. Senior Kimberly Olsen, president of AMA at UW-Eau Claire and one of the event organizers, said she thinks one of those reasons is the reputation the event has.

Foster Gallery, Haas Fine Arts Center. • 11 a.m. to 9:30 pm. English Festival Events. The English Festival is a week-long campus wide language arts conference comprised of student and faculty presentations on all topics surrounding cultural studies, linguistics, theory and literature.
