Terrorism isn't political

Sensationalist use of word hinders preparation for attacks

Into my fourth year of English and CJ courses, I have unavoidably paid attention to word choice. As a high school student who did not enjoy English, I never considered the words describing a situation to trump the situation itself. So when I saw 'terrorist" and "peanut butter" in the same sentence Saturday morning, I didn't notice the oatmeal dripping off my spoon and onto my sock; it just didn't seem to matter.

For those of us who live on campus, our dining selection is seemingly limited. We can either stuff our stomachs at the cafeteria or make our way to Hilltop for a quick bite to eat. In case you missed it, there were elections Tuesday. I consider myself pretty in tune with what's going on politically, and in truth, I didn't realize the February primaries were Tuesday until I saw a candidate's TV ad over the weekend. But it was the content of the ad that caught my eye.

Yet no matter how hard people work to silence the homosexual voice, gays and lesbians continue to come out of the closet and prove that no matter how loud people piss and moan about them, they're not going to give up on living a happy life.
